I had a wonderful week in Mississippi. I got a chance to hug and cry with some more friends. I realize that a lot of my Good Sam friends may have lost a partner or friends because they are so understanding and comforting. They come to me and start talking and sharing how sad they are at the loss of Ira. They tell me the things they miss. I can not explain how comforting this is.
Gloria Jane, Pete Cotton's wife, stayed in the rig with me for the week. It did us both good. Pete passed on 8-06-07 so we had lots to talk and cry about.
This Samboree had a lot of firsts. I walked in to the arena "Only You " was playing. This was our wedding song. A new friend was with me and held me as I weeped a little. Friday night the College Christian musical group sang Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA". Sat. Night the entertainer sang MY WAY. My Friend Linda was there with her arms round me. These were song we played and had sung at Ira's Celebration of Life. A little heavy but I got through them with my friends.
Church, Sunday, a memorial to all those who have passed I got a Rose in memory of Ira. As I came back to my seat a hand came to my shoulder and I held it I didn't know who it was. After the service,I found it was a Friend who had lost is wife last year and he said I had been there for him and gave him one of our flag pins. He talked and sang me a few lines of a song. "One day at a Time, Lord Jesus"
We ate out a lot this week. There isn't time to cook, we need to be together sharing and talking. This town has The Round Table restaurant. It's a big table and lazy Susan in the middle, 16- 20 people can sit at it. The center is loaded, Family style, with lots of different southern food and lots of pies. They love Banana pudding in the south. When we sat, the desserts were on the table so while waiting, I took a piece of pie took a bit and told them to take a bit and pass it on. We tried about 3 pies and the Banana pudding before the food got out. I was teaching them to share and when we finished our meal we knew which dessert we wanted. Lots of laugh and noise.
Each time I went out to eat I was with a different group of people.
Some of my Alabama Friend was there. I was so excited Jim & Clara I haven't seen for about four years. Jim had his key board and he picks & grins with a gang of people almost everyday. He asked me to get the Boombah and play with them. I did a couple of times. One evening it was Talent show, Jim was going to play the key board. He said he would start to play and after a few cords he wanted me to come through the curtains and play the Boombah with him. I did and it was lots of fun.
Another Alabama couple knew I loved pecans. They heard I was going to be there and bought me 2 quarts of frozen pecans. Isn't that a WOW?
I have instruction,If I can, to stop in Alabama on the way back to Florida and visit some other Friends who are keeping track of me and passing the words to others. They only live about two miles from the road I came over on.
I decided to start my new seminar even though I wasn't ready. I told a few what I was planning and they encouraged me to start it here. I title may change but for now it is "When you lose your partner, Things you need to know". I had about 50 men & women in the room. We had a wonderful discussion and because of the comments, this is needed. One gal said she is taking this to a Chapter meeting and they will have the discussion.
We went out after entertainment Friday for dessert, planned to go Sat. Restaurant isn't open Sta. so when we were in the rig getting ready for bed, there was a knock at the door and AB & Jean Brantley for Ms. has Strawberry sundaes for us and about three other rigs parked with us, They made them. Can't go to sleep without your ice cream. See, you never know what is going to happen.
I followed Don & Helen Woodard, Sambassadors from TX,Terry, Betty and another couple for Tn followed us to La. When I got parked I called the kids to tell them I was here and safe. I was cleaning the rig and told my daughter I didn't know If I would get to the outside and clean the windshield, bugs, today or do it in the morning. I looked out and Angel, Terry was washing my windshield. He did mine after he did his.
At 6 we had to go to dinner, We went to the local golf club . When we got there some of the La Staff was there having their dinner. It gave us a good chance to get to know them. I was encouraged to try Boudin Balls, I did. I shared with my Friends. I don't think I will try them again. People in these States eat different things. some good some OK. Got to try it. Another experience.
I need my Friends to see how wonderful and supportive the Good Sam folks are.
I don't want my friends to worry while I'm out here because people are looking out for me.
Thanks for caring and checking in. Love you & Hugs Rosemary

Rosemary we are so proud of you for backing your rig in and taking on this trip. I know Ira is giggling up there. Nancy and Dave Williams are at The Bee's so when you get there give them a holler. Keep up the good work. Lots of love and hugs being sent from Michigan.
