Georgia to Alabama

April 2, 2008
I had a wonderful time at the Ga. Samboree. Friends are heading north after a fun time in the warm south and they stopped at the Samboree. It was great to see friends from Maine, Ma. Ct. and other states.
I'm trying to slow down at the Samborees, but not too successful at it. I will have to work on it. I had Friends say "I saw you yesterday but I couldn't get to you, you were going somewhere". I guess, that's a message. I will try to do better and slow down and stay in Hospitality longer. I'm so use to looking friend up, walking around the grounds and visiting, so I'll try to stay in an area longer and see how that works.

I am in Al. in friends, Tom & Joann, yard. I will be here for two weeks. Then go into the AL. Samboree.

I arrived Sunday, Joann was with friends at the annual Craft, college and high school event.
I was hurrying and when I unhooked the van, so we could join them at the event, I hurt my finger. I looked at my hand and my Rt. finger was directed toward my Left hand. I took my glove off and I said" Tom, I think I dislocated my finger" He said" hold on I will pull it". He did, I almost passed out. I got very dizzy. I told him to back the coach in place. When the coach got in place I was feeling better. He taped my two fingers together.

I went to the event and had a good time, being careful of the finger. We visited, we played cards and had a great evening.

Before I went to bed, I retaped my fingers and taped my hand around a ball, thinking that should be good. I put hot and cold for awhile and had it elevated during the night. When I got up my finger was going more to the RT than straight.

I went into the house for coffee and said," I guess I should go to emergency". Tom took me. The X-ray showed a broken finger at the base. The Dr. put a cast on my hand and an ace bandage up to my elbow. I got laughing this should get me sympathy.

When I entered the house I said look , "I can't do dishes" Some people will do anything to get out of dishes or housework.

I had an appointment with an orthopedic Dr. Wed. He said" you got a good break but Tom did a good job, it's almost in place and I don't want to do surgery" Praise God. He said all I needed was the fingers to be taped together, be careful, come back in two weeks, have another X-ray and see how it's healing.

Now that I only had tape around the fingers, it didn't look so serious. I asked if he would write me a note that I couldn't do dishes. He got a kick out of it.
I haven't decided how I will handle this at the Samboree. I might tell them Tom did this, I need a better parking place ( I always get a great spot) or something so I can get sympathy. I need to get some fun out of this.

Otherwise, I'm doing great. I am not just driving around I am always going to meet friends.

At the Dothan, AL. Samboree, Pat, her new friend Sherman, and we hope Gloria Jane will come so we will all be together again.

As you start to get on the road, travel safe, have fun and keep healthy. Keep in touch with me. Let me know where you are and what you are doing.
Love you all. Rosemary

Rosemary, sorry to hear about your finger. Hurrying rarely results in a good outcome. Anyway, it sounds like you're in pretty bad shape and probably will not be able to walk around much at the Samboree. That being the case, maybe Tom (since it clearly was his fault) should push you around in a wheelchair for the entire Samboree. I hope this makes you feel better and that your dishes aren't piling up in the sink (Tom should help there as well).

See you soon,
