Let me tell you about my supposedly restful and lonely week in Georgia.
I arrived last Sunday at the Campground with a dead battery in the van. Gary Park manager helped get it started.
Monday and Tuesday I was so sick. I haven't been sick for years. Wednesday I was so weak. Gary came to check on me. Nice to be in a small park. Thursday things better. I thought I would go to town, no way, dead battery. Finally got the van going went to town and to the car dealer to see what could be the problem. Well, he couldn't find a thing wrong, so back to park again after going to WalMart of course.
Met Jan, a retired nurse from Texas, who has been on the road and full time for 5 years. She had breast Cancer last year, did the treatment necessary and is back on the road. Her only concern is "I wish I had more money".
Jan left this morning around 11 and I was going to leave shortly. Guess what?
Dead van! I put the charger on her again and then I had two men, Rich & Paul there, What now? "I thought it was OK".
They went to work, cleaning terminals, checking volts and using all kinds of tools. They checked wires found some split. Battery needed a little water and maybe a cell bad. We let the van charge for an hour, finally got it going. They suggested I get a new Battery. I went to Walmart and they exchanged the Battery. The old one was bought last year. I was gone a couple of hours.
When I got back I hooked up the van and they started to check all my hook up wires and lights. They found two more wires that ran the light and blinkers was frayed.
They got those fixed. I asked if they would be here next year when I come through?
Gary said he couldn't stand dirty windshield. He got a ladder, I got Windex and paper towels and he cleaned the windshield. I had my Hero's this week.
There are so great people out there. I am so blessed.
That was my quiet and lonley week :).
I left around 4 and got to this park around 5. I unhooked the van, its started, Praise God. I started to move the rig on the lot when I see Jane coming to meet me.
I stopped got out, got a nice hug and as we were talking Jack (John) came up.
We talked a while. I said stay in rig and I'll park it. I pulled into lot. Got out looked it over and Jack started to give me some pointers about looking the area and judging how and where to park. I backed out and came in again, much better.
Hook up electric, watch out for spiders, hook up septic and water. Jack gave me some very good pointers and advice. Thanks Jack. I have so much to learn.
I will need to make a lists of things I need and Jane and I, maybe Jack if he doesn't go golfing, will go to Camping World and pick up a few things this week.
It was a wonderful feeling arrive here and have them here to greet me. What wonderful friends you meet when you travel.
As I was getting things set up, the phone rang and I was told to "Get over here your dinner is waiting" Al & Lucille Squires, friend who live in town and were so helpful to us in '04 when Ira had his Liver problem, had dinner for me and two other couples from Ohio, were there.
Our Ohio Friends, Mike & Sue and Pat & Ron camp at the RV Park where we stay part of the winter, here in Florida. They were very important this spring and helped a lot when I was running back & forth to the Hospital. It was great to spent a little time with them and I will see them again this week.
I am so blessed every where I go, I am blessed and suprised with friend being there.
Well, I guess I'd better get to bed. It's been a very busy week. Hugs to you all, Love you R
